If you love chutneys, then this Andhra-style Palak Pyaaz Chutney is going to be your new favorite. And since spinach season is here, it’s the perfect time to try something that’s healthy, spicy, and absolutely irresistible. This chutney pairs beautifully with hot parathas, steamed rice, or even plain idlis.

Let’s make it the easy way!

How to Make Palak Pyaaz Chutney (Step-by-Step)

1) We start by making a sharp, flavorful onion paste.

In a mixer jar, add roughly chopped 3 onions, a few garlic cloves, 1 tbsp Chukde Jeera, red chilli powder, salt, and a small piece of tamarind. Grind it into a smooth paste.

2) Now heat some oil in a kadhai.

Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, a little urad dal, chana dal, garlic, curry leaves, and dry red chillies. Once they splutter, pour in the onion paste and sauté it for 3–4 minutes until the raw smell goes away.

3) Add a little hot water, cover it, and let it cook for a couple of minutes.

Now sprinkle Chukde Haldi Powder and a pinch of Chukde Red Chilli Powder—their aroma and quality really elevate the chutney.

4) Finally, add chopped palak (spinach) and cook everything together for 2–3 minutes.

And just like that… your delicious, vibrant Andhra-style chutney is ready!

It’s spicy, tangy, earthy, and goes well with almost anything you love.

Why Use Chukde Spices?

Good chutneys are all about the freshness of ingredients.

Chukde spices—especially Cumin Seeds, Turmeric Powder, and Red Chilli Powder—have a bold aroma and clean taste that genuinely improves the final flavor. If you want that authentic Andhra punch, quality spices make all the difference.

FAQs

1. Can I store this chutney?

Yes! It stays good in the fridge for 1–2 days. Just reheat or mix a little hot water before serving.

2. Can I skip tamarind?

Tamarind adds a lovely tang, but you can replace it with a few drops of lemon juice.

3. What can I serve Palak Pyaaz Chutney with?

It tastes incredible with parathas, steamed rice, dosa, idli, or even as a side for simple dal-chawal.

4. Can I add tomatoes?

Traditional Andhra-style recipes don’t use tomatoes in this chutney, but you can add one small tomato if you want extra tanginess.

Palak gives the chutney a nutritious twist and balances the spice. You can swap it with methi or coriander, but the flavor will change slightly.
