If you love quick snacks, these piri piri cheese balls are perfect. They’re crispy outside, soft inside, and packed with flavour. Great for festivals, parties, or even a cosy movie night.

What you need

  • 2 boiled mashed potatoes
  • 4 tsp chopped capsicum
  • 4 tbsp corn
  • 2 chopped green chillies
  • 1 tsp Chukde chilli flakes
  • 1 tsp Chukde pizza seasoning
  • 1 tsp Chukde piri piri masala
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup grated cheese
  • 1/2 cup cornflour slurry
  • 1/2 cup crushed cornflakes

How to make it

  1. Take mashed potatoes in a bowl. Add corn, capsicum, green chillies, chilli flakes, pizza seasoning, piri piri masala and salt. Mix well.
  2. Take a small portion of the mix. Place a little cheese in the centre and shape it into a smooth ball. Repeat for the rest.
  3. Dip each ball in cornflour slurry. Coat with crushed cornflakes.
  4. Fry them in medium-hot oil until golden. You can air fry if you want a lighter version.
  5. Serve hot with your favourite dips or sauces.

Using Chukde spices gives a deep flavour to these cheese balls. Our chilli flakes and pizza seasoning work really well in this recipe.

FAQs

Can I use any other vegetables?

Yes. You can add finely chopped carrots or onions, just keep them dry so the mix doesn’t get soggy.

Which cheese works best?

Processed cheese and mozzarella both melt nicely. Use whatever you prefer.

How to stop the balls from breaking while frying?

Make sure the potato mix isn’t wet. If it feels sticky, add a little cornflour before shaping.

Can these be made ahead of time?

Yes. Shape the balls and store them in the fridge for a few hours. Fry just before serving.

How long do they stay crispy?

They taste best right after frying. If reheating, use an air fryer or oven instead of a microwave.

Enjoy the crunch and spice, and keep this one ready for the next time guests ask for something tasty in minutes.
