Haldi or Turmeric comes from Curcuma longa, a plant belonging to the ginger family native to tropical South Asia. The importance of Haldi dates back to 4000 years in Indian Veda for religious and culinary purposes. Today, India is the largest producer of Haldi and consumes 80% of it.
Turmeric is mildly aromatic with an overwhelmingly earthy and bitter taste.
